According to reports, there have been claims of cruel experiments being conducted at Colonia Dinidad, located near the town of Parral in Linares Province, approximately 400 kilometers south of Santiago.

Back in 2005, the BBC disclosed that former political detainees attested to the existence of a network of underground tunnels at the colony, where they were subjected to gruesome torture involving electric shocks accompanied by the melodies of Wagner and Mozart.

The character played by Michael Nyqvist is reportedly inspired by Paul Schäfer, who was the mastermind behind the German community residing in Colonia Dinidad.
